Vinton County Engineer Roy DePue has announced that beginning Monday, April 13, 2026, and until further notice, Vinton County Road 24 Vinton Station Road will be closed to all thru traffic for a bridge replacement project. The closure is located from the intersection of County Road 24 Vinton Station Road and U.S. Route 50 for a distance of 0.2 miles south of the intersection. Local traffic will be maintained south of the project site. Thru traffic detour to be west to State Route 93, then south on State Route 93 to State Route 324. Then east on State Route 324 to CR 24 Vinton Station Road. The closure is estimated to last four months. The County Engineer’s Office would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding while this critical infrastructure link is replaced.

Engineer's Responsibilites

The Vinton County Engineer’s Office is responsible for design of all county roads, bridges that have a ten foot span and larger on township roads, and all bridges and culverts on county roads. The County Engineer also prepares and creates  plans, grant applications, and bid specifications for specific projects.

They provide responsibility to compile an annual bridge field inspection to submit to ODOT, review and analyze utility permits for use within county rights-of-way, review and assign rural house numbering, and assist townships with project plans and technical advice. The Engineer also provides technical oversight to the County Tax Map office.
